D. Joyce Kitson Wet Plate | Bismarck, ND | Personal

This summer I tagged along with my great aunt, D. Joyce Kitson, Pe Hin Sa Win, Red Hair Woman as she had a wet plate portrait taken by Shane Balkowitsch. Shane is working on a series of wet plates titled "Norther Plains Native Americans: A Modern Wet Plate Perspective" which will be featured at the North Dakota Heritage Center.

It was an incredible experience meeting Shane and learning the Wet Plate Photography process. For more information on the process and about Shane, visit his website...here!

D. Joyce is an extremely talented artist, who uses the same techniques as our ancestors. I am so grateful for her knowledge and time in helping me learn beadwork! To see more of her work click here!

Thank you Shane for not only allowing me to watch you, but also photograph you behind the scenes. I am still in awe of the beautiful images you captured of D. Joyce.
