Where has the last 32 weeks gone? I can't believe that in 8 weeks or less we will be meeting our first child, a baby girl, whom we plan to name Bristol Sioux. When I first found out I was pregnant I was over the moon excited, that was quickly followed by, holy crap 9 months is a long time to wait! It seems like just a few weeks ago we were hearing her heartbeat for the first time, seeing her move on the monitors and finding out her gender. Now in 8 weeks or less we will be holding our baby girl!

When we found out Tyson had cancer I was only a few weeks pregnant, the fear of losing our child amiss all the stress was a thought that crossed my mind daily. A bigger fear that haunted my daily struggle, was the possibility of losing my husband. The first and second trimester seemed to fly by fairly quickly. Every week was full of doctor appointments between my husband and myself, researching alternatives to surgery, radiation, and holistic medicine. I was also coaching soccer, running my photography business, and trying to in general....keep my shit together!

Bentley was the first to notice a change in our house. He has always been my side-kick, I've had him since he was a puppy and he will be 6 this September. He's been my big fur baby and I completely spoil him. About the time we found out Tyson had cancer he started acting a little differently. He would whine at the door to go outside anytime Tyson would leave, he would lay next to him on the couch instead of me, he would sit at the window and watch him drive away to work as if he was scared he was leaving for good. Things we didn't necessarily pick up on until after his diagnosis. Now that Tyson has been cleared of cancer he's came back to being my plus one and insists on following me wherever I go. During our evening of pictures he was following me around for every image and seemed as if to be annoyed when we wouldn't let him in on the photo. If only we had another photographer with to capture his reaction each time we told him "no, go sit down, your not in this shot."

I will never forget when Tyson and I traveled to Minnesota to meet with other doctors, the conversation we had was not easy or fun, but one that needed to occur. My cancer related fear list was a mile long and one of the items on the list was Tyson not being able to meet our child or even know if it was a boy or girl. During our drive we made a list of names, after a little arguing and some laughs we agreed on a boy and girl name. A week before Tyson's surgery we got an unexpected call from my amazing doctor, Dr. Delvo at Mid Dakota Clinic, who informed me that we would be able to find out our baby's gender a week early, just in time to celebrate before Tyson were to have surgery the following Monday. That Wednesday Tyson and I cut into a beautiful cake from JJ's Cakery and inside revealed it would be a baby girl. We looked at each other and laughed because we knew her name was going to be Bristol Sioux.

One thing people frequently ask me is "what are you most excited about?" That is a hard one to answer. Of course I can't wait to see what she looks like, feel her little fingers wrap around mine, hold her, kiss her, love her. I want to know what her personality is like, will she be stubborn like me or easy going like dad? Will she be athletic? Smart? Creative? There are a million things I am excited for! However, the one thing I am most excited about, is the reaction Tyson will have when she's born. He is the kindest, most caring, loving person I know and I can't wait to see him love our baby girl!

Although our pregnancy has not been all rainbows and butterflies, it has really made the relationship I have with my husband stronger and gave me a deeper sense of self-strength and mental awareness. Thank you handsome boy for putting up with my cravings, mood-swings and complaining. These stunning pictures were actually taken by my talented husband after our original maternity session was cancelled due to bad weather and an over booked schedule. I think he did pretty dang good for a tripod, self-timer and his "how do I focus this again?" attitude :)
