"Conner and I met at a mutual friend’s bonfire and it was truly love at first sight. After that night we were inseparable and after a year of dating he proposed. The proposal took place while on a trip to Las Vegas in front of the dancing waters at the Bellagio Hotel! Everything that night was perfect!" -Gena

"Melanie, it has been such a privilege and a pleasure working with you! You know what poses and what background scenery will make the perfect shot and you think of things that I never could have known that I wanted until I see the end result. I am absolutely in love with every picture that you have taken for us from our engagement session, to my boudoir session and lastly to our wedding day. You are amazing and I can’t wait to work with you again in the future! You are now officially our family photographer!" -Gena

"It has become a tradition for the women in my family to be married at the Cathedral of The Holy Spirit and I knew I wanted to keep the tradition by having our wedding ceremony take place there. For our reception area, I wanted some place unique and Sixteen03 was the perfect place! Sixteen03 did everything from our decorations there and at the church to catering our social hour and dinner. Sarah and Michelle were amazing to work with and were able to satisfy my every request. I loved everything they did that night to help make our special day even more wonderful."-Gena

"We met when we were 15-16 years old. First time ever meeting each other we were in ad time at BHS junior year but never talked to one another. We didn’t start talking until the end of the school year when summer started. My friend and I got invited from a mutual friend of ours to come over and hangout over at Ricky's for the afternoon. That’s when Ricky and I started actually talking and got to know each other. That was at the end of May, he didn’t technically ask me out until July 7thand been together ever since."- Rachel

" We went to a football game Dallas Cowboys vs Minnesota Vikings on December 1st, 2016 We are huge cowboy fans. My mom and stepdad, who are Vikings fans, came with also. First thing I thought was weird when we got an Uber Ricky sat in the front while my parents and I sat in the back. Thinking to myself well ok Ricky rude much why not let Ron sit in the front seat but obviously now I know he was too nervous to sit by me.     We are at the stadium now walking around checking it out since it was the new stadium they built, got some beer, found our seats and taking some pictures. Ricky left I thought to get more beer for us but he was gone for a while. So, I was wondering where he was at well more importantly where my beer was at haha jk. He finally came back then he said hey let's go look at the field again. I said we already did why go look at it again. He said come on let's just go. I got up noticed my parents got up too wondering why they are coming too. We got down there looking at the field again Ricky says hey look whos here I turn around see his mom and terry standing there turn back over to Ricky as he was getting down on one knee. I started backing up saying no, no, no like 50 times started crying of course I did say yes and obviously saying no so many times was me in shock because I didn’t think it would ever happen. At the time, we were together for almost 11.5 years so pretty much had it in my mind he was never going to ask, but he did!! Oh, and the Cowboys won too, just topping off fantastic night already with our team winning."-Rachel

"I mean really, it's planning a wedding. A lot to do, a lot to think about, a lot of money, a lot of everyone's time. I will say though, if I didn’t have my mom helping me it would've been a million more times stressful. She helped so much, there's no way I could ever thank her enough!"-Rachel

"Melanie you are awesome!! I know our height difference was a little challenging but you figured out and it resulted in beautiful photos. The location we did wedding pictures at was amazing, we are so glad you talked us into going down there. You seriously did a spectacular job, I love all photos. You and your husband were great that day. I honestly don’t know what to say besides how great you are and we are so happy you were our photographer. Thank you for everything!"-Rachel

"Life is a beautiful thing. Everyone has a journey and a path. Lucky for me, my path crossed with Shawn’s during our freshman year of college at the University of Mary in Bismarck. Here is a brief version of how our journey started…I remember having my first college class with Shawn. The class was made up of about 200 or so students. Of course me being the studious type, I sat off to the side in the front with my roommates, so it was easy to hear and take notes. To my left in the dead center of the lecture hall, there was a group of “jocks” that came in late every day with their MacBook computers in hand and Beats headphones hanging around their necks. All the girls would swoon over these guys. Oh, especially that “tall” one! As the semester went on, we each went about in different directions with different groups of friends not ever really crossing paths… And before too long, it was the next semester, and then it was Valentine’s Day. On February 14, 2013, Shawn and I’s paths crossed for “real.” I was hanging out with my friends when one of them decided she would dye part of her hair pink if another guy dyed a piece of his hair pink. So the bet was on, and we were off to Walmart to get hair dye. On the way there, my friends started asking me what I thought of this “Shawn” guy. I said I didn’t really know him. I knew he played football. I knew he was cute. That was about it. They decided that we would go over to Shawn’s dorm room to dye their hair. They were trying to set us up. When we got there, things were awkward to say the least. I am pretty sure Shawn tried to hide in his room for as long as he could. Eventually, we awkwardly sat around and visited. Later that night, we were both texting my friend about the “setup.” We were both telling her that we felt the other didn’t feel interested even though we both were. Eventually, she told us to talk to each other and give it a chance, so we did. We started hanging out and hit it off! Our first official date was pretty awesome. Shawn told me he wanted to take me out to Peacock Alley. I called my mom up in disbelief. “This guy wants to take me to Peacock Alley, mom. Can you believe it? Isn’t that a fancy restaurant? I better get a new dress, mom!” So, I got a new dress, and we went to Peacock Alley. We went bowling after supper. The rest is history! Every year on our “official” dating anniversary (March 14th), we go to Peacock Alley to commemorate our first date. Yes, it is quite corny, but we love the tradition we have created!" -Whitney

"After work one cold December night, I tossed the mail onto the kitchen table when I happened to notice a receipt that was setting on the table. This was not just any receipt, it was THE ONE. Luckily, Shawn wasn’t home at the time because I was jumping up and down, crying, and saying “oh my goodness…I am going to be a wife!” I went to Shawn’s city league basketball game after I calmed down a bit. I debated the whole game as to whether or not I should tell him about the receipt I found. Later on when we got home, I broke the news. He was devastated to say the least, yet thankful I told him. He had everything planned out to ask me on Christmas Eve at my grandparent’s house. Fast forward to the week of Christmas…Shawn asked both my father and little brother permission to take my hand in marriage. Of course, both of them said yes, so Christmas Eve would be the night I would officially be asked. My grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, brother, and parents were all present. My family plays a “white elephant” gift exchange game every year, so after the game concluded, Shawn got everyone’s attention. He stood up and said that he would like to have the greatest gift of all which would be for him to take my hand in marriage. I said yes! Everyone was so excited and happy for us. It was such a special moment. My aunt and uncle were engaged on Christmas Eve at my grandparent’s home as well which makes the memory even more special. Although, the proposal wasn’t exactly as Shawn had planned, it was perfect for me! I was so excited, grateful, and happy to get to marry my best friend!" -Whitney

"I was my own wedding planner which had its pros and cons. First, I found timelines of when things needed to be done on Pinterest. Also, my cousins got me a wedding planner book created by the Knot. It was a wonderful planner to use (I also downloaded the Knot’s planning application on my phone which I highly suggest getting both the app and planner book)! I kept receipts for deposits, business cards, and other important information organized in this planner. As far as booking vendors went, I started by booking the main things which were the church and reception venue. It can take a little work to find an open day at both places that isn’t in 2030! From there, I booked the photographer and other vendors. Lucky for me, my decorator was a family friend who is quite the visionary! My mom and I met with her numerous times starting in January until the wedding in October. She took my dream and made it reality! The theme was “Shabby Chic.” My advice for planning would be to take it one step at a time. Don’t get overwhelmed. Keep a to-do list and focus on getting a couple of things done per week. For the day of the wedding, I made an itinerary that went hour by hour detailing the day. This helped keep everyone on the same page. Yes, things didn’t go exactly as the itinerary said they should, but the day was still perfect. Your guests truly don’t realize if you forget to do little things here and there.  One question I’ve been asked is, “Do you regret not having a wedding planner?” The answer is I don’t regret it. Planning the wedding myself gave me control and more importantly a sense of pride. I was proud to see all of my hard work come together on our BIG day. In all reality, the only thing that really mattered about the day was that I got to marry my best friend!" -Whitney

"We first met in high school, Andren was a senior when I was a freshman. We both had long term high school relationships into our 20s. Neither one of our relationships worked out and we started dating in February of 2015. We went on a trip to Mexico that I had earned through work in June of 2016. He set up a romantic dinner on the beach the first night we were there. In the middle of dinner a photographer came to our table to take a couple pictures, as this is what the restaurant did for every couple that had dinner on the beach. Little did I know Andren had already talked to this photographer and he knew everything that was happening! He positioned me so when I turned around Andren was on one knee. I was so surprised that I forgot to even look at my ring until Andren told me to look! We were so excited and could not wait to get back home to start planning!" -Shawnee

"We started planning the day after we got home from Mexico. I had a good idea of where I wanted it and the time frame but we just had to coordinate the dates with all of the vendors we wanted! Luckily everything worked out with everyone we wanted so we got all the bigger things booked right away! We went with neutral grey colors with hints of lavender and it turned out exactly what we had picture."   Cinematography: videography by l.j.
