Brooke invited me back out to her family, The Lillis, Ranch just west of Mandan for their family session. The evening featured a few off and on showers but their private road tunnel offered some protection from the rain. When the rain stopped it made for some beautiful clouds and little Cahl enjoyed playing with his horses on the hillside. He was also a big fan of the baby chicken that joined us for a number of pictures :)
We are all aware of my inability to blog consistently, so it shouldn’t be a shock to see this winter session appearing in May. This family was so cute I couldn’t resist sharing images from their family session. I also adore this location, a private tree farm in the Bismarck area.
These might be familiar faces to you thanks to their awesome local business Cashman’s Nursery. Somehow I got lucky enough to not only call them clients but friends. Their girls are adorable and frequently appear in commercials and radio ads. If your thinking about redoing some landscaping, purchasing some flowers for your home, or need a Christmas tree around the holiday season I highly recommend shopping local and supporting Cashman’s Nursery!
Jenna wanted some place rustic with a real North Dakota feel for their engagement session, so we headed south of Mandan to a new found spot of mine and embraced a gorgeous fall evening. The days prior and after were terribly cold and ugly, but that evening was perfect! Brynlee was dressed so cute and was completely adorable as she looked for foxes and deer with grandma and grandpa. I can’t wait to photograph there wedding next summer at one of my favorite local venues Black Leg Ranch.
“I’ll ride in on a sunny day, sing you a song, steal your heart away, like a cowboy.”
On a gorgeous August evening I joined the Breuer family for a perfect family session. Cahl has the best blue eyes and his smile was worth the work. This family is basically magazine worthy, they are so adorable and they have personalities to match.
Three beautiful little girls made for a fun morning session. Who wouldn't want to start their day with some baby snuggles?! Big sisters Maria and Anika did an amazing job of showing me how helpful and loving they are with new sissy. Anika was quick to take charge while bringing some great laughs to the family. Thank you Cashman family for inviting me into your gorgeous home and photographing your beautiful family!
I love when families invite me to their homes or ranches/farms for pictures. It's a nice change of scenery and often presents a fun challenge of finding good light while getting to do a little exploring. The Bly family had a beautiful big tree with a tire swing in their yard which made for some great lighting while the sun dropped a little where we took most of the pictures. We also battled the mosquitoes for some field pictures before ending the evening in front of some old silos.
I met Cassandra a few years ago while photographing a styled shoot in the Badlands. She is an extremely talented make-up artist who I refer all my western ND clients as I think she does an impeccable job. She asked me to do a "mommy & me" session over a weekend we had planned to work together on a wedding.....of course I said yes! Cass came up with the styling, my only real contribution was the rug and tipi. Her little family was so cute and the bond her children have made me really excited for Bristol to be a big sister. Thanks for having some fun with me and introducing me to the family, can't wait to photograph you guys again!
